Continuing on with another registry tweak ... here's a way to control whether users can send read receipt messages from their BlackBerry handhelds. Personally, I hate read receipts and would block them at the transport layer, but if you allow them and just want to prevent them from coming a la BlackBerry here's the way to do it.

Taken from the BES 4.1 SP4 Release Notes:

In BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 SP4 (and later), you can control whether users can send read receipt messages on their BlackBerry devices. Perform the following actions:
  1. On the computer that hosts the BlackBerry Messaging Agent, start the Registry Editor.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents.
  3. Right-click SuppressReadReceipts (create a DWORD value if it doesn't exist), and click Modify.
  4. Perform one of the following actions:
    • To prevent users from sending read receipt messages, type 1.
    • To allow users to send read receipt messages, type 0.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart the BES.
