Continuing on with another registry tweak ... here's a way to control whether users can send read receipt messages from their BlackBerry handhelds. Personally, I hate read receipts and would block them at the transport layer, but if you allow them and just want to prevent them from coming a la BlackBerry here's the way to do it.

In BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 SP4 (and later), you can control whether users can send read receipt messages on their BlackBerry devices. Perform the following actions:
- On the computer that hosts the BlackBerry Messaging Agent, start the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents.
- Right-click SuppressReadReceipts (create a DWORD value if it doesn't exist), and click Modify.
- Perform one of the following actions:
- To prevent users from sending read receipt messages, type 1.
- To allow users to send read receipt messages, type 0.
- Click OK.
- Restart the BES.
