If you haven't read it already ... RIM has released BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express ... wait a sec, didn't that already exist?

I don't get the reusing of names and RIM's ability to successfully confuse administrators (Like the whole MDS, MDS-CS, MDS-IS debacle) ... anyhoo check it out: BlackBerry - BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express

Things to note:
  • Supported on Exchange 2003/2007/2010 only (yay! 2010 support included)
  • Supported on Windows Server 2003 SP2 / 2003 R2 SP2 / 2008 SP2 (32-bit or 64-bit for all of them)
  • Supported with MSDE 2000 SP3 / SQL 2005 SP3 (32-bit or 64-bit) / SQL 2008 SP1 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Supported ON an Exchange Server
  • Supports same number of users as BES if installed remotely

Is this actually an upgrade from the previously known BlackBerry Professional Software for Small Businesses? RIM marketing really likes to confuse people...

Yes, but I don't think you can actually "upgrade"

They already had BES Express ... and now we have it again ... part deux!

As BESX is based on BES 5.0.0 MR1, I am quite sure you will be able to use at least BlackBerry Enterprise Transporter to move users from an existing BES domain to a new BESX domain. Does anyone have an information if BET is supported with BESX?

I'm guessing it should be ... but I wouldn't put it past RIM to remove the required tables / sql information to support this ...
