I really wanted to title this series: BES Logs ... do I really care?

... but if anyone knows me, you know I love the logs and just couldn't say a bad thing about them. Why, you ask? Are you ready for the answer ... The logs don't lie. Users lie ... administrators lie ... but the logs tell us like it is.

Over the next 20 days, each day I'm going to talk about one specific BES Log file along with:
  • What function it serves
  • What service(s) feed it information
  • A blurb on what to look for and what can be ignored
20 may turn into 22 or 25, but realize this is going to be focused on Exchange. I may post something here or there from a Domino or GroupWise log, but it'll be rare if at all.

As we go through the logs I'll provide some screenshots and tools that I use for analysis.

Tomorrow we'll start with one of my favorites ... and coincidentally the first alphabetically; the ALRT log.

Woohoo! I love logs - I just don't 'speak log'.
