Nope ... not going to reinvent the wheel here. KB10922 - Unable to establish an SRP connection because the SRP is disabled. Had to do some troubleshooting today and this is a good one that just got updated too! Just remember: TCP port 3101 only needs to be opened outbound, not inbound!

Exchange Server Supportability Matrix

Posted 09-23-2009 at 05:00 AM by hdawg (hdawg's BES blog)

I love support matrices ...

The Exchange Server Supportability Matrix from Microsoft hits all of these:
  • Exchange 2000 through Exchange 2007
  • Windows 2000 through Windows Server 2008
  • Browser Support (IE / FF / Safari / etc)
  • Client Support (Outlook / Windows Mobile / Entourage)
  • .NET Framework
  • PowerShell
  • MMC
  • Windows Installer

A good read, a great reference, and a new bookmark for me.

Posted 09-23-2009 at 05:00 AM by hdawg (hdawg's BES blog)

A friend sent me this ... in addition to a few chuckles I actually got a good understanding of AES: Moserware: A Stick Figure Guide to the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)

For us BES Admins, we should definitely know 3DES / AES.

HARD and SOFT delete when deleting users from BES

Posted 09-21-2009 at 05:00 AM by hdawg (hdawg's BES blog)

Do you want to remove BlackBerry information from the messaging server / BlackBerry Configuration Database? Yup, that question relates directly to this.

Taken from: KB16109 - What is the difference between a HARD and SOFT delete when deleting users ...

After deleting two BlackBerry smartphone users, the BlackBerry Manager logs shows the first BlackBerry smartphone user as HARD deleted while the other as SOFT deleted.
