EU BlackBerry Service Outage

***EU BlackBerry Service Outage***

Just to inform you all, there has been an outage this morning affecting BlackBerry services in the UK. At the moment I'm not sure if this issue also impacted other parts of Europe, but what I know is that both BIS and BES services went down, and I've had this confirmed by 2 UK carriers this morning. From our systems it looks like things went offline just before 08.00 GMT and were down for about 25-35 minutes maximum by my estimation.
Anyone continuing to experience issues now should not attribute it to this morning's outage.

Hi - we use Boxtone to monitor our BES and this sent me a SRP alert just after 7am this morning. I logged into our BES and noticed that the SRP status was indeed having a problem, call then logged with RIM - spoke to the call centre in Singapore, all they would say is that he couldn't access the link.
9am the BES got its SRP connection back, quick call to RIM for an update but no information
Second time this has happened over the past few weeks - although not good, it does at least justify to my bosses to pay for boxtone if they want an instant alert. Also justifies my job

How did Boxtone notify you Marcus? The standard alerting built into BES would have emailed you when the SRP connection was dropped and reconnected, but of course it would not have sent the dropped message to your BlackBerry until the connection was re-established. You could always set the standard BES alerting to send an email to a email-to-SMS gateway and get the message to you via SMS.Posted 05-16-2009 at 03:48 PM by cjscol

Hi Ciscol, yeah I did look into using the BES to do this but we wanted a method of monitoring outside of the BES environment in case the BES or our mail system has problems.Posted 05-18-2009 at 04:24 AM by Marcus
